WAN Visibility, Optimization and Acceleration have matured over the past few years. Enterprises are now able to get much more from their WAN and use it as a strategic enabler of many IT transformations such as Datacenter consolidation, Desktop virtualization and voice, video and data convergence. However, many Enterprises still struggle with application performance and control. They understand the need to build an application aware layer but are challenged by the complexity surrounding this goal. Things like the lack of integration between different technologies, legacy network management concepts and having no simple way to define the services delivered by the application aware network all represent major issues that only a few enterprises have the skills or resources to fully address. In this webcast trusted advisors from Gartner and Ipanema will discuss how technology is maturing and enabling a strategic, rather than tactical approach to application performance and control. New approaches such as Autonomic Networking and meaningful Application Service Level Agreements will be shown to be pivotal in the development of IP VPNs toward their next application layer evolution. Finally it will be shown that service providers are progressively understanding and fulfilling the Enterprise requirement for an intelligent network extending way beyond the traditional layer 3 cloud.
