Ipanema’s Management Software Suite (IMSS) - centralized management and reporting

Ipanema’s central management software—known as IMSS—acts as the integration point for the Ipanema System. IMSS is unique in the industry because it eliminates the need to configure, manage and monitor “boxes” on a site-by-site basis. Instead, IMSS brings the power of Ipanema's system architecture to the user through automation, distributed processing and web-based interfaces. IMSS is made up of two primary software modules:
 

  • ip|boss is at the heart of IMSS. It is used to configure the Ipanema System and to supervise the ip|engines. It is also responsible for the collection of visibility data, and it delivers the helpdesk, application performance monitoring and alarming functions.
     
  • ip|reporter includes both a database and an advanced reporting engine. It is capable of delivering numerous reports on application usage and performance according to multiple criteria, such as by application type, network site, region and/or by time. IMSS reports are created automatically using report creation wizards.


Additional IMSS functionality can be delivered through the Export Software Suite (ESS). The IMSS ESS enhances the primary capabilities of IMSS by offering a simple, easy-to-use, direct interface into the information systems of enterprises or service providers. ESS is made up of two modules: ip|export and smart|billing.

Behaving as a mediation layer, ip|export supplies the results of the performance and usage measurements made by the Ipanema System to the network OSS/BSS infrastructure, as well as to simple databases and/or familiar analysis software suites, such as Microsoft Excel.

smart|billing, the other optional IMSS module, uses the unique visibility data the Ipanema System collects on application demand and actual delivered application performance. In addition to basic network usage data, smart|billing provides business-relevant billing information that – uniquely in the industry – correctly maps to the cost drivers in enterprise networking.
